New minimum laden weight driving test rules from the DSA

From the 15th of November 2013 the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) states vehicles must carry a minimum weight when being used for a driving test.

This new DSA rule applies to the following categories of vehicles:

  • Cat C - Rigid lorry
  • Cat C+E - Articulated lorry or large lorry and trailer

The rules also affect vehicles towing trailers which include:

  • B+E Car and trailer
  • C1+E Our Long Wheel Base Mercedes and trailer
  • D1+E Minibus and trailer

The load our vehicles carry will be bagged aggregates such as gravel or sand or intermediate bulk containers (IBCs) holding water.

The Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) practical test is also affected by the minimum laden weights.

Periodic Driver CPC remains unaffected.

All Truck Training UK Ltd affected vehicles will be fully compliant to the new DSA rules by the 15th November.
